I’m here at Birch Tree Bookery in Marion today for their Indie Author Showcase, and honestly, it feels surreal every single time I set up my table. There’s something about walking into a bookstore, unpacking my books, arranging my signs, and knowing that people are about to come through the door — people who might pick up Marked by Fate, flip through the pages, and step into the world I poured so much of myself into.
If you’ve been waiting to grab a copy, this is the moment to do it. I’ve got signed paperbacks and hardcovers at special in-person pricing (cheaper than you’ll find anywhere online), and I’ve also brought along my exclusive author merch: notebooks, bookmarks, and pens that you literally can’t get in stores. I even have my sugar scrub sampler with me so you can order if you want to try something a little different.
But more than just the books and the merch — this is my favorite part: getting to connect. Writing is such a solitary thing most of the time. It’s me, my words, and the mess inside my head. Events like this pull me out of that isolation and remind me why I do this. They remind me that stories connect people. They remind me that readers are out there, living and breathing and ready to step into the worlds I build. And being able to look someone in the eye as I hand them a signed copy? That’s the kind of moment that makes the years of doubt and hard work worth it.
A little bonus… I’m not here alone! I’m joined by three other incredible indie authors, each bringing their own unique worlds to share:
Christina Taylor-Florence – children’s literature
Michele Rankin – adult drama
Linda Van Meter – adult drama, romance, and thrillers

So if you’re local — come see us. We’ll all be here until 2 PM.
